Today's book of the day is Swimmy by Leo Lionni!
One of my favorite
picture books of all time and a Caldecott honor book. Swimmy has stood
the test of time, for both its beautiful art work and simple and sweet
story of cooperation and kindness. A graphic artist and illustrator by
trade, Lionni was the art director for Fortune magazine and began his
children's book career by trying to create something to entertain his
grandchildren. Lionni is also credited with helping Eric Carle find
illustration work when he first came to America!
Today's book of the day is The League of Beastly Dreadfuls by Holly
Grant.
Mysterious and funny, a great read, especially for fans of
Lemony Snicket.
Today's Book of the Day is the Detective's Assistant by Kate Hannigan.
Orphan Nell is brought to Chicago to find a relative to take her in.
Aunt Kitty is not interested in keeping Nell, she is too busy working
with the detectives of the Pinkerton Agency. Nell sweet talks her way
into staying and is soon the detective's assistant. A great, fun
adventurous ride with wonderful characters. I am hoping there is a
sequel in the works!
Today's Book of the day is Emma Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree by
Lauren Tarshis.
It is one of my favorite books ever. A great book to
read for a book group or just to read anytime! Enjoy it!

and Heidi Stemple with illustrations by Melissa Sweet.
A perfect
balance of story and information. And a great book to read this
mother's day.

counting. This was a big hit in storytime!
Today's book of the day is Little Bear's Visit by Else Holmelund Miniarik with pictures by Maurice Sendak.
Little Bear loves to visit his grandparents. A classic and Caldecott Honor, this book explores the joy in having and being a grandparent. Miniarik is often credited with being the mother of the beginning reader book, as she wrote Little Bear for her parents as they were learning English!
